Frequently Asked Questions

Our teddies come from generous donors in our community who want to give their preloved bears a brand new adventure! We believe every teddy deserves a second chance, and we're on a mission to keep these much-loved companions out of landfill and in the arms of children who'll treasure them.
Each teddy that arrives at Toys Arís gets the full spa treatment – we carefully clean, refurbish, and repair them with lots of love and attention. Every bear also receives their own unique Irish name as Gaeilge, giving them a special identity before they're ready to find their next best friend. Because as we like to say, "Somewhere over the Rainbow is a teddy better than new!"
Every bear has its own special story, and we think that makes them extra special. Plus, choosing a refurbished teddy is a lovely way to be kind to our planet!
Got a teddy to donate? We'd absolutely love to meet them! If you have preloved teddy bears looking for a new purpose, please get in touch with us.

We are passionate about celebrating our unique heritage with Irish names as Gaeilge. One of our favourite sources for inspiration is "Irish Names: The Origins, Meaning and Legacy of Ireland's Traditional Names" by Donnchadh Ó Corráin (Lilliput Press). These names carry centuries of story so what better way to celebrate these special toys! We also invent our own playful names in Irish, based on the character, type or appearance of the soft toy.

We've obsessed over every detail of our packaging (you're welcome!). Boxes? 100% recycled cardboard. Swing tags? Tied with natural hemp string on Favini paper made entirely from post-consumer waste. Tissue paper? Recycled newsprint or acid free (depending on what size toy we send you). Nothing new, nothing wasted. Just like the teddies inside, our packaging arrives with both care and conscience - because sustainability means thinking about every single step.

When should I order to receive my teddy before Christmas?
We're open right through the Christmas season because we know how important it is for your teddy to arrive in time for the big day!
To help ensure your teddy arrives before Christmas, we recommend following An Post's recommended posting dates. Based on previous years, these are typically:
Within Ireland:
Parcels: December 21st
To Europe:
Parcels: December 17th
Please note: These dates are based on 2024 guidelines. We'll update this page with the official 2025 Christmas posting dates once An Post announces them, usually in November.

We accept all donations of teddy bears and other soft toys. We take teddies from all walks of life: handmade, older and bolder, new branded toys, there is a place for everyone over the rainbow at Toys Arís. Our only caveat is they must be true soft toys, i.e. no electronic parts or hard plastic additions (aside from normal teddy eyes and noses).
-
Toys Arís will be visiting many markets this Christmas period so keep an eye on our socials (Instagram) as we will be accepting donations wherever we are. Alternatively, if you have some soft toys that you’d like to donate please get in touch and we can arrange something.
